All Elite Wrestling (AEW) stars Red Velvet and KiLynn King have been added to the NWA Empowerrr Women’s Tag Team Tournament.
The tournament will take place at Empowerrr on on August 28 and will crown new NWA World Women’s Tag Team Champions after Mickie James announced the reincarnation of the championship.
Velvet and King tagged quite regularly for a while on AEW Dark as well as being presented as part of a trio along with Big Swole.
The other teams announced for the tournament so far are Allysin Kay & Marti Belle, and Renee Michelle & Sahara Seven.
King’s last match on AEW Dynamite was a loss to Yuka Sakazaki on July 7, while Red Velvet most recently competed in the main event of the first ever AEW Rampage where she unsuccessfully challenged Britt Baker for the AEW Women’s World Championship.
Empowerrr is an all-women’s event that takes place the night before NWA’s 73rd anniversary show, and some other notable names in action include Kamille Brickhouse, Leyla Hirsch, Deonna Purrazzo, Melina, and Chelsea Green.
