Spanish language announcer Willie Urbina has been released by AEW, following a recent incident that took place during Dynamite.
A video has recently emerged on social media of commentator Willie Urbina seemingly mocking Hikaru Shida’s Japanese accent. It is now being reported that Urbina has been let go by AEW.
As per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Urbina is no longer with the company. Meltzer took to Twitter to report:
“Willie Urbina was let go by AEW.”
PWInsider has confirmed Meltzer’s statement, noting that Urbina was indeed let go by AEW.
Willie Urbina has yet to comment on this incident from last night’s show.
