AEW Star Returning To Another Promotion, Set To Miss Upcoming Shows AEW

An update has emerged on Konosuke Takeshita’s schedule, who appears set to miss some upcoming AEW shows following a new announcement.

Konosuke Takeshita currently has three contracts, holding deals with AEW, NJPW and DDT-Pro.

With Takeshita currently playing major roles in both AEW and NJPW, DDT-Pro has now confirmed Takeshita’s return to the promotion, following his six-month absence.

Konosuke Takeshita has been announced for the promotion’s events on November 6, 8 and 9.

The official English language DDT Pro-Wrestling Twitter account announced:

14th IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Konosuke Takeshita will be taking part on the November 6th Shinjuku FACE, and November 8th and 9th Kumamoto shows!

This means that Takeshita will not be in the US to appear in person at the November 8 AEW Collision taping in Houston, Texas.

Also, given that 14 hour time difference, and the similarly long flight time, it would be virtually impossible for Takeshita to appear on the November 5 Dynamite episode, given his November 6 booking in Japan.

Takeshita currently holds NJPW’s top title, winning the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship from Zack Sabre Jr at King of Pro Wrestling.

Following this title win, he stated that he intends to showcase the title worldwide, but would be willing to “move things around” so he can be on any tour he’s called for.

He will team with Kazuchika Okada to challenge for Bandido & Brody King’s AEW World Tag Team Championship at WrestleDream on October 18.

These upcoming DDT Pro shows will feature Konosuke Takeshita’s first matches for the promotion since teaming with Yuki Ueno to defeat Daisuke Sasaki & Dick Togo at the May 17 Dramatic Dreams show.
