After the one hour Iron Man match resulted in a draw, MJF and Bryan Danielson continued in sudden death overtime to close AEW Revolution.
In the AEW Revolution pay-per-view main event, MJF went to war for his beloved AEW World Championship when he took on Bryan Danielson.
With copious bloodshed and several pinfalls and submissions throughout the match, in the final ten minutes the score was tied at three falls each.
Tied at 3 falls and one minute to go, the knee that MJF had been selling as injured throughout the match saw itself in the clutches of the American Dragon.
Holding the submission throughout the final minute, the match initially ended in a draw with MJF announced as having retained.
However after Tony Schiavone seemed to be getting a communication from the back, he went to the ring to give further instruction to Justin Roberts who made a ring announcement.
The match would continue with sudden death rules until there was a winner!
After well over sixty minutes, MJF was able to retain his AEW World Championship after Bryan Danielson tapped out to the Lebell Lock.
