AEW star Ricky Starks has commented on the backstage drama, following recent reports.
The AEW locker room currently appears to be a chaotic place, with several backstage issues spilling onto TV. CM Punk calling out Hangman Page on the August 17 edition of Dynamite was reportedly ‘completely off script’, with there being heat between the two stars following their Double or Nothing program.
Eddie Kingston also recently served a suspension following a backstage altercation with Sammy Guevara, and now will be facing Tomohiro Ishii at All Out instead of Guevara.
Speaking on the Battleground podcast, Starks noted that the locker room has changed since he first started with AEW.
Not wanting the in-ring product to be overshadowed by backstage issues, Starks said:
“The locker room has definitely changed. I mean, where we were once really, really close, we’ve expanded that and we’re still close, but we just have more people in the family now, more people that sit at the table.
“I definitely think that the drama of the backstage stuff, while it does pique the interest of people online and whatnot, I f**king hate it. The reason I hate it is because it kind of overshadows some of the stuff that happens on TV.
“I’d rather not be involved with it. But we have people backstage who have loose lips, and that’s what happens. Now we have created the scenario where we just have all the rumors and speculation because that’s all it is. I promise you what you read is not necessarily true.”
Starks is set to go one-on-one with Powerhouse Hobbs at AEW All Out. Check out the announced card for the September 4 pay-per-view right here.
