AEW’s Ricky Starks has thanked the Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes for ‘changing the game and the world’ in a post on social media.
Starks was referring the creation of All In, with the inaugural event taking place in September 2018 as an independently run event in association with Ring of Honor.
The event was born from a “bet” in response to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer saying that ROH wouldn’t be able to sell 10,000 tickets “any time soon”.
The show was announced on Being The Elite in December 2017, with the date of the event being announced in January 2018 and the venue reveal taking place in March that year.
The event would go on to an attendance of 11,263 and would be the first non-WWE (or WCW) event to sell 10,000 tickets since 1993.
It would lead to the creation of AEW with that company being founded in January 2019 with Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson and Cody Rhodes all serving as EVPs, along with Kenny Omegs.
Ricky Starks reflected on the creation of All in on the evening of AEW All In at Wembley Stadium, writing on Twitter:
“Big thank you to @youngbucks @CodyRhodes for the creation All In.
“Changed the game and changed the world.”
In response to a suggestion that the company has gone from “undesirable to undeniable” thanks to the Young Bucks and Rhodes, Starks would reply:
“They made it all possible and everyone should give them the recognition.”
After his match against Chris Jericho, Will Ospreay has broken his silence on the importance of AEW and the London debut to him.
AEW All In at Wembley Stadium saw a record-breaking attendance of 81,035 paid fans in the iconic venue.
It was also revealed that the event would return to London in 2024.
