Ricochet has opened up about the last conversation he had with Triple H before his recent departure from WWE.
Having made his intentions to leave WWE clear ahead of his contract expiry, Ricochet was written off TV in an attack angle with Bron Breakker.
Recently, he has made his debut in AEW and had his first match with the company having signed a multi-year deal.
During an appearance on The Ringer Wrestling Show, Ricochet reflected on how he was written out of WWE and the conversation with Triple H, saying:
“Yeah, I think going into it, I think (I knew how my time on WWE TV would end), and even later, me and Triple H had a little talk and he was just like, ‘Anytime –’ whatever.
“Because I just hadn’t re-signed and it was kind of like my last time there before the time ran up. I think they knew I just wasn’t gonna do it. So, I think they were just trying to give me a good out that made me, you know… something that was open-ended.
“What’s gonna happen? So I think they wanted to leave it that way but I think they knew that wasn’t gonna happen.”
In the interview, Ricochet also revealed that he felt that he was to blame for his later run in WWE, suggesting that he was used a lot but didn’t deliver the quality he wanted.
He has also revealed the reason he chose to leave WWE and sign with AEW, reflecting on the times in wrestling where he “was having the most fun”.
During his time in WWE, Ricochet held the Intercontinental Championship, United States Championship and NXT North American Championship along with being the inaugural WWE Speed Champion.
