AEW has hired a new name for its creative team that has most recently been associated with TNA Wrestling since 2019.
Robert “RD” Evans has reportedly joined AEW and has been in place over the weekend for Collision with plans for him to be present at the June 12 Dynamite.
Earlier this month, Dave Meltzer confirmed that Evans had resigned from TNA Wrestling, with later reporting from PW Insider stating “the relationship between the defacto head of creative and TNA had ‘grown strained in recent weeks’ which had left Evans frustrated.
PW Insider has gone on to confirm that Evans has signed with AEW and was “working on backstage segments over the weekend.”
It was also noted the Evans had “made the decision to leave”, although there were those within TNA who “tried to paint it as a mutual agreement.”
PW Insider also notes that Evans’ departure was separate to TNA Wrestlng firing Creative Director David Sahadi and Vice President of Marketing Lou D’Angeli.
F4W Online notes that Evans was previously part of the WWE creative team from 2016 until he “quit on the spot” after the WWE Hall of Fame in 2019 where Vince McMahon yelled at him because Bret Hart had mentioned Vince’s name during his speech.
In 2019, Bret Hart was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of The Hart Foundation having been inducted on his own in 2006.
