AEW Star’s First Title Challenger In Six Months Confirmed

AEW star Wheeler Yuta’s first ROH Pure Championship match in six months has now been announced for the Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view.

Wheeler Yuta returned to the ring in June after being sidelined with an injury, competing on AEW TV alongside his Blackpool Combat Club teammates.

He resumed duties as ROH Pure Champion on the July 4 episode, when he faced Lee Moriarty in a Proving Ground match, where if Moriarty won, he would’ve automatically earned a shot at Yuta’s championship.

While this match ended in a time-limit draw, Tony Khan has confirmed that Moriarty will challenge for the ROH Pure Championship at Friday’s (July 26) Death Before Dishonor show.

After he survived the Proving Ground + following Thursday’s BCC vs STP tag on ROH TV, Moriarty will challenge Yuta for the Pure Title Friday at Death Before Dishonor!

This will be Yuta’s first title defence since defeating Komander on the January 5 episode of AEW Rampage.

Several other title matches have been announced for Death Before Dishonor, including a Mark Briscoe set to defend his ROH World Title against Roderick Strong.
