An AEW star has announced an all-women’s wrestling show, with the champion set to launch this with an event in Texas during the summer.
ROH Women’s Champion Athena has revealed her next big project, a regular women’s wrestling show under the banner of Metroplex Wrestling.
Athena shared a video announcing that a new regular all-women’s wrestling show will kick off with the “Who Runs The World?” event on August 9.
In the video – which you can watch below – Athena said:
“I’m announcing my passion project, something that I’m extremely passionate about, women’s wrestling in Texas. Now, I’m going to give all the women in Texas and around the world an opportunity to be seen, to be heard, to showcase their talents like we have never before on our new, regular women’s wrestling show. And the very first one is on August 9, and I’m calling it Who Runs The World.”
Several stars were announced for the August 9 show in the video, including Athena herself, MPX Women’s Champion Reizia Clarke, Vert Vixen, Hyan, Abadon and Masha Slamovich.
Athena last wrestled at the May 31 MPX show, defeating Maya World. Her most recent match on AEW TV saw her lose to Mercedes Mone on the April 14 Dynamite episode in their Owen Hart Cup Tournament semi-final match.
She most recently wrestled on ROH TV during the June 5 episode (taped May 8), defeating Rachel Armstrong in a non-title Proving Ground match.
