Crazy Scrapped Sammy Guevara AEW Spot Revealed

A crazy spot from a Sammy Guevara match had to be scrapped due to an “accident” leading to a different finish at an AEW PPV.

Sammy Guevara revealed the plan himself during an appearance on MuscleManMalcolm for The Sportster.

Asked about spots Guevara wanted to do only to have them vetoed, The Spanish God revealed:

“Really, the ladder match [on the March 1, 2023 episode of AEW Dynamite], people thought it was crazy.

“I wanted it to be a lot crazier, but due to time constraints and whatnot, we had to cut a lot of stuff.”

Guevara would then go further back in time to All Out in 2020 when he faced Matt Hardy in a Broken Rules match, saying:

“There’s one thing in the infamous Sammy Guevara vs. Matt Hardy match at All Out [2020], I was actually going to get thrown off the top of Daily’s Place that’s how the match was going to end.

“Unfortunately, because of the accident that happened early in the match, we had to go straight to a different finish.

“I want to go back to Daily’s Place just to get thrown off of it one day. One day, you know, a guy can dream.”

At All Out in 2020, Hardy and Guevara would fall from a scissor lift, crashing through a table but with Hardy’s head hitting the concrete floor.

Whilst the match would continue, they went straight to the finish, with Hardy taken to hospital shortly afterwards.

Guevara also discussed not wanting to be part of the AEW house show circuit in the interview.

He would also suggest that the “internet” likes to spin stories of locker room reactions and believes he’s getting the fans back behind him in 2023.
