Former AEW Women’s World Champion Saraya has stated that she may not be in the company to face a current top name.

The comments were made during a recent interview, with Saraya also having dropped a hint at a potential AEW departure on social media.

As recently reported, Saraya tweeted lyrics from her old WWE entrance theme, having been absent from the AEW ring since October 2024.

Speaking on The Wrestling Classic, the absent star reflected on the possibility of a match against Mercedes Mone.

Saraya would reveal that they both wanted the match to happen, although she stated that she may not be there for any potential future encounter, saying:

“I don’t know. I mean, we both wanted to, so we were just waiting for that trigger to be pulled. But I think she has other people that she has to wrestle for right now, so I don’t know when that time would be.

“Unfortunately, I may not be there to be able to do that with her. It should have happened a while ago, but it is what it is.

“We wanted it, but it hasn’t been the right time, I guess.”

Mone and Saraya have history together, with the former Divas Champion stepping away from the ring after a neck injury in December 2017 where she faced the former Sasha Banks at a WWE house show.

Saraya has noted on numerous occasions that the injury was an accident and that she doesn’t blame Mone, with Mone actually being the first person Saraya called after she was cleared to wrestle again.

Saraya was able to return to the ring in AEW back in 2022 and has gone on to hold the company’s Women’s World Championship.

Speaking on her absence from AEW, Saraya recently said that she felt there wasn’t a spot for her at the moment.

Having announced her first autobiography previously, “Hell in Boots: Clawing My Way Through Nine Lives” is set for publication on April 10, 2025.
