AEW Star Reveals What Vince McMahon Demanded Prior To WWE Main Roster Debut WWE

Prior to joining AEW in September 2022, Saraya (FKA Paige) spent over a decade in the WWE, being signed by the company whilst still just a teenager.

Saraya’s rapid ascent up the WWE ranks saw her capture the NXT Women’s Championship in 2013 and then the WWE Divas Championship at the age of just 21, beating AJ Lee on the Raw after WrestleMania 30.

Saraya’s memorable main roster debut is a moment that is perhaps most synonymous with her career, however, in a recent appearance on the Mark Hoke Show she revealed that it was Triple H who had to push to make the moment happen with Vince McMahon initially not enthused for a Saraya main roster call-up.

However, McMahon would eventually be persuaded, on one rather strange condition. Saraya explained:

“It was Triple H who was the one like pitching for me to go on the main roster and Vince (McMahon) was like, ‘Fine! But she has to wear purple’ and that was it.

“So I had to get my purple wrestling gear and I slowly transitioned back into the black again eventually and he didn’t notice again.”

Saraya’s active WWE run would see her compete regularly until December 2017 when she would unfortunately suffer a serious neck injury in a six-woman tag match at a WWE live event.

The injury was so bad that it would force Saraya to retire from in-ring competition and undertake non-wrestling roles in the company as well as pursue outside ventures such as her Twitch channel.

This period was described as ‘miserable’ by Saraya, with her elaborating further on the struggles of being cast-out by the company towards the end of her time there – to read her comments on this in full clcik this link.
