The latest Deletion match took place on the May 5 2023 episode of AEW Rampage with The Firm Deletion from the Hardy Compound.
The match saw Matt & Jeff Hardy teaming with HOOK and Isiah Kassidy defeating The Firm (Big Bill, Ethan Page, Lee Moriarty & Stokely Hathaway).
As previously reported, time constraints meant that AEW fans didn’t see the full match which would be presented as a Director’s Cut on YouTube and can be seen below this news story.
Looking back at the cinematic presentation, Matt Hardy spoke about what was scrapped from the match on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, revealing:
“I’m gonna give you a spoiler but I’m not gonna give you a spoiler. There was going to be a Willow cameo in here (Firm Deletion) and it would’ve been hilarious because you (Isiah Kassidy) know what it was. But we didn’t get to do it because of time constraints and weather. So we’ll just save it for the next time. But yes, there was going to be a Willow cameo at one point. ”
Willow was a Jeff Hardy character that the charismatic enigma used during his run in IMPACT Wrestling.
Hardy would on to tease what we could have expected and his feeling about having to scrap the moment, adding:
“The Willow moment was gonna be with Stokely (Hathaway) and I promise you, people would have pissed their pants in this moment.
“So I was really upset we didn’t get that in. But you know, it is what it is. “
He would also reveal more details of what didn’t make the final cut, feeling that the final thirty minutes of Rampage could have been dedicated to the Firm Deletion, concluding:
“Yeah, it was (a great moment between Caprice Coleman & Stokely Hathaway that didn’t make the final cut of Firm Deletion).
“There’s a lot of stuff I wish would have been on the TV version. I wish they would have just given us the last 30 minutes of Rampage.”
Matt Hardy has previously discussed how the Firm Deletion match came together in AEW.
