AEW recently announced a highly anticipated signing that was met with a lot of excitement from fans.
During AEW’s debut tour of Canada, the company officially confirmed that Renee Paquette was All Elite.
AEW fans had speculated about Renee potentially becoming All Elite ever since her WWE departure back in 2020 due to her relationship with former three-time AEW World Champion Jon Moxley.
It took a year longer than expected, but Renee made her debut for AEW on the October 12 episode of Dynamite.
Renee’s arrival came at the time when Triple H had planned major shakeups to the broadcasting teams of Raw, SmackDown and NXT.
Shortly after Renee became All Elite, it came out that WWE had also made an offer for her to return to the company, as a backstage interviewer for the Raw brand.
Renee chose to join AEW instead, with the Raw spot going to another former WWE interviewer, Cathy Kelley.
Speaking to Vickie Guerrero on her Excuse Me podcast, Renee confirmed the report from Fightful that she had spoken to WWE prior to her arriving in AEW.
She said:
“I had been talking to WWE, that had gotten leaked out before I debuted with AEW, I had been having conversations with WWE about all the things they have going on over there. The more I was thinking about it and figuring out what that looks like and what the future looks like, I was like, ‘No, I want to be in AEW.’
“I want to be part of this company that is growing and developing. I want to help. I want to help lend whatever knowledge I have in this space to make things good, I want to do a good job, I want to be on the road with my husband, that makes life easier.
“It was more so that and it was more conversations Jon and I were having. That was one of those first big moments, ‘We have to make a decision as a family.’ Not that I can’t do what I want, if that’s what I decided to do, it would have been fine, but you have family conversations about what makes the most sense for everyone,”
Renee has held several big interviews during her time in AEW, including segments with Saraya, Britt Baker, Bryan Danielson and new AEW signing Konosuke Takeshita.
