New AEW Signing Explains Why He Joined The Company

Having signed with AEW in February 2025, Speedball Mike Bailey has now revealed the reason he joined the company.

Reports emerged in February about Bailey signing with AEW following his TNA Wrestling departure.

Speaking to the Bleacher Report, Bailey has now revealed his mindset when it comes to AEW and what he intends to prove.

Considering AEW “the big leagues”, Bailey revealed that he wants to step up and prove that it’s where he belongs, saying:

“I think my biggest accomplishment in pro wrestling, and in life to be honest, is making every single year better than the last.

“It was time for me to step up and make it to the big leagues, and AEW is where the best wrestle, and in my opinion, it’s where I belong.”

The former TNA X Division Champion would also reveal where his focus current lays, stating:

“Obviously, right now, AEW is my focus. It’s where I want to be, it’s where I want to wrestle, but wrestling for New Japan and CMLL and going to those places to represent AEW would be a huge honor.”

During a period in which Bailey wasn’t able to work in the United States, he would note that he was able to appear internationally, moving from country to country to build up his standing in professional wrestling.

Bailey has previously revealed that he was almost signed with WWE until a change in hiring guidelines came into effect.
