A current AEW star has commented after beating a WWE Hall of Famer for an award in today’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter Awards.
Today’s edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter was the annual Awards edition, with a number of awards going to AEW after a banner 2025 for the promotion.
Among those awards was the award for Best Non-Wrestler of the Year, which Don Callis took home this year, beating out WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman who came in second.
Heyman was the winner of the award in 2024, with he and Callis being the only winners of the award since 2021, with Heyman winning in 2021, 2022 and 2024 while Callis won in 2023 and 2025.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Callis commented on his victory, and beating out Heyman for the award.
He said:
“Well, that’s a great showing for Paul for sure. I’m happy for him that he was able to accumulate a third of the votes that I was.
“Paul did a lot for me in my early career and I’ll always have a soft spot for Paul. “
