There has been an update on a popular AEW star’s future with the company ahead of their upcoming contract expiration.

AEW star Daniel Garcia has previously mentioned that he is in the final year of his contract with the company, and there has been an update on his future in AEW.

Per Fightful Select (subscription required), sources have confirmed that Garcia’s contract was set to expire in the Fall of 2024 as of earlier this year, with him potentially set to hit free agency then if he doesn’t end up re-signing.

However, a top AEW name has said that they don’t believe Garcia will be going anywhere, even believing he has re-signed with the company.

When those close to Garcia were asked directly about his status, they said that a lot of his future would likely come into focus soon.

Garcia had previously had a WWE tryout in January 2021, which was said to have went exceptionally well for him, to the point where it landed him an NXT television match.

WWE didn’t end up signing Garcia, but told him they’d sign him sooner if anyone else had interest in him.

Garcia is set to face Will Ospreay for the AEW International Championship on tonight’s Beach Break episode of Dynamite.
