‘The Cancer Got Cut Out’ – AEW Star Addresses Current Backstage Atmosphere In The Company

Darby Allin has described the current atmosphere in AEW as “amazing”, saying “the cancer got cut out” of the company.

Former two-time AEW TNT Champion Darby Allin appeared as a guest on the latest Ariel Helwani Show, discussing his recent climb of Mount Everest and his other risk-taking activities inside and outside of the ring.

During the interview Allin was asked by Helwani to describe the current vibe within AEW, to which he answered:

“It’s amazing and I’m not just saying that. A few years ago you definitely felt this tension but now it’s like everybody’s on the same page. Let’s make this place as good as possible. I feel like a lot people truly have to realise how good they have it.

“Because Tony wants everybody in the ring and in their personal life to be happy and that’s a really good energy. Like ‘hey, everybody be the best versions of yourself’. And I feel like right now more than ever everybody’s on the same wave length. Everybody has the same goals.”

Helwani then asked what changed within the company to get to that point, with Allin replying:

“The cancer got cut out.”

Helwani then asked what the “cancer” was exactly, with Allin saying:

“Just egotistical wrestlers that don’t wanna lose.”

Allin then said he’s referring to “groups of people”, rather than just one individual when asked by Helwani. He continued by expressing his problem with people who have egos in pro wrestling:

“At the end of the day this is all staged. It’s the greatest thing in the world but it’s staged. So if you’re going to have an ego about that get out of the f**king sport. Go be in the UFC, don’t be bringing that s**t here.

“This about having fun. Once all that got cleared up I was like ok cool, let’s rock. I just don’t like egos, I can’t stand them.”
