Bryan Danielson is set to take on ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champion Brian Cage on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
Cage has been featured on the Tony Khan era Ring of Honor pay-per-views since he took over the company last year, and has made sporadic appearances on Rampage and Dynamite since.
Last year, Brian Cage’s AEW contract was set to expire before AEW triggered an extension in his contract, keeping him around for another year.
Per Fightful Select (subscription required), Cage’s contract is set to expire in the coming weeks, unless he comes to an agreement on a new deal.
Fightful noted at the time that Cage was ‘pleasantly surprised’, as he didn’t expect to have his option picked up, as he had been off TV for months at that point.
The report also claims that there have been feelers within WWE gauging the company’s interest in bringing Cage in, though it’s not known if there is even any interest on either side.
Cage has received praise for his work since his television return in mid-2022.
He is a former FTW Champion in AEW, as well as winning his debut in the Casino Ladder match at Double or Nothing in 2020.
