WWE Backlash in San Juan, Puerto Rico is now officially in the books, and a lot of memorable moments took place on the show.
One of the biggest moments of the show came during the SmackDown Women’s Championship match, when Rhea Ripley defended her title against Zelina Vega.
Vega may have failed to capture the title, but she came out of the show a winner, sharing a heartwarming moment in front of the Puerto Rico crowd.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa discussed the segment, saying that she ‘really cried’ watching Zelina’s entrance.
She said:
“When Zelina Vega came out I really cried. People have been able to represent their countries and represent their cultures in such a positive way… It was such a beautiful moment.
“I remember when Thea Trinidad [Zelina Vega] came to STARDOM in 2015 and I saw her struggle, when I saw her in Puerto Rico with her people, it was such a beautiful moment… Even though she didn’t win the title, she won even more than that.
“Everytime I watch it I cry, I don’t know if I will ever get to do something as big as that.”
Rosa made her return to AEW television on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, where she was shown walking into Tony Khan’s office.
Rosa’s return, as well as Miro’s on the same show, was directly linked to the upcoming launch of AEW Collision.
