Matt Hardy Discusses Failed WWE Angles That Were ‘In Bad Taste’ AEW

An AEW star has discussed three failed WWE angles that they consider “in bad taste”.

Since his arrival in All Elite Wrestling, Matt Hardy has seen his fair share of ups and downs. From injuries to the disappointing Hardy Boyz reunion, it has been less than smooth sailing.

However, Hardy may remember his time with AEW more fondly than he reflects on a few storylines during his WWE career.

Speaking with SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio, the former WWE star was asked about a storyline with Cody Rhodes where Cody gave him a hard time about his weight.

Hardy answered:

“I agree, those were both bad calls in the big scheme of things. Even when my brother was back, and he’d obviously had his struggles over the years with addiction and alcohol, the most recent obviously. When they put him on TV and put him in like an addict-alcoholism angle and story, I feel like those are in bad taste. I think you won’t be seeing that as much now that Triple H is in charge. That’s something you would never see underneath Tony Khan. He’s very forward-thinking, very progressive, and he realizes people who have these real-life struggles, you have to separate them. You really shouldn’t abuse them and make light of them on your television product.”

Matt Hardy continued on to bring up that performers were given the option to decline certain pitches, saying:

“Saying, ‘no,’ is something you have the option of doing, but it isn’t something that is truly encouraged. They want you to go with the flow.”

As previously reported, Hardy reacted to the return of his former tag team partner in WWE, Bray Wyatt.
