An AEW star has reached out to a prominent director and movie executive, hoping to snag a role in an upcoming project.
Wardlow made the suggestion, tweeting James Gunn and throwing his hat into the ring for a starring role in an upcoming DC Studios project.
Revealed in September 2024, DC Studios is developing a movie featuring Bane and Deathstroke, with Gunn co-producing alongside his fellow executive Peter Safran.
The project may be in relatively early days, but Wardlow has his eye on the key role, assuming a former WWE name is unable, tweeting:
“Hey @JamesGunn, if you need a Bane and Dave Bautista is busy, I’m your guy.”
Batista previously portrayed Drax in Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Trilogy for Marvel Studios and will be seen in Trap House later this year.
While no casting has been confirmed for Bane & Deathstroke, at the time of writing, Gunn has previously talked about Dave Bautista taking the role, stating:
“I don’t know if Dave wants to be Bane anymore; he used to want to be Bane.
I think he would much rather be another character than Bane right now; I think that is probably the case.
“Of course, I love Dave, and I wanna work with him again, but I am not sure he wants to be Bane anymore.”
Bane was most recently portrayed by Tom Hardy in 2012 movie The Dark Knight Rises and by wrestler Jeep Swenson in the 1997 Batman & Robin.
Wardlow is currently absent from AEW screens, having last competed in March 2024, but was recently confirmed for the upcoming American Gladiators reboot.
