An AEW star has recently taken shots at WWE for not appreciating the talents of former NWA Women’s Champion Serena Deeb.
In recent years, Serena Deeb has made a name for herself as one of the best women’s wrestlers working today. AEW star Anthony Ogogo has praised Deeb, throwing shade on WWE for not seeing her value.
On Twitter, Ogogo discussed Deeb’s in-ring consistency. wondering how it would be possible to ignore her talent, the former boxer tweeted:
“Imagine having a talent like @SerenaDeeb for years and not allowing her to go out and show the world she’s one of the best wrestlers on the planet week in and week out (laugh emoji). So, so, sooo damn good.”
Deeb first signed with WWE in 2009. She was notably aligned with CM Punk in 2010 as part of the Straight Edge Society. She left WWE later that year, before returning to the company in 2017 to compete in the inaugural Mae Young Classic.
Following the tournament, Deeb transitioned into a coach role, before being released by WWE in April 2020.
The wrestling veteran had an eventful NWA Women’s Championship reign, frequently defending the gold on AEW shows. Deeb lost the title last Sunday at NWA When Our Shadows Fall to Kamille.
Mickie James recently made a surprise appearance for NWA. It was announced that she will help produce an all-women’s special for the promotion.
