AEW Star Granted Release

AEW Star Granted Release AEW

An AEW star has been granted their release from the company.

As previously reported, William Regal was granted his release from All Elite Wrestling at the tail end of 2022 after requesting to return to WWE to be closer to his son. It now seems like Regal wasn’t the only AEW talent to be granted their release at the end of the year.

At tonight’s IMPACT Hard To Kill event, Frankie Kazarian announced that he had officially signed with IMPACT Wrestling, signalling his departure from All Elite Wrestling after four years in the promotion.

During the promo, Frankie said that he had to decide whether to remain complacent and be with “people he thought were his friends” or push himself and he chose to push himself.

PWInsider reports that the word backstage at the show is that Kazarian pretty much told the truth about what happened in his promo.

The report notes that after his IMPACT World Title bout against Josh Alexander at Over Drive in November, Kazarian asked AEW for his release and it was granted.

It was reportedly “an amicable situation” based around Kazarian wanting to push himself harder as he’s getting closer to to the latter point of his career.

The former AEW World Tag Team Champion believed that in Impact, he’d had a chance to be more in the mix than he’d likely be able to get the opportunity to do in AEW, given how massive that company’s roster is.

The report also notes that Kazarian “did business the right way” and would be welcomed back into their locker room anytime, but going forward, he’s with Impact.

As previously noted, Frankie Kazarian noted that he had signed a long term contract with IMPACT Wrestling.

We will have further updates and breaking news from IMPACT Hard To Kill when they become available.
