AEW Star Hits Huge Championship Milestone

AEW Star Hits Huge Championship Milestone AEW

An AEW star has hit another huge milestone in their already record breaking championship reign.

Capturing the Ring Of Honor Women’s World Championship from Mercedes Martinez back at ROH Final Battle on December 10, 2022, Athena has since become not only the longest serving current title holder signed to AEW, but also the longest reigning champion in ROH history.

After knocking off the likes of Mercedes Martinez, Willow Nightingale, Hikaru Shida and her “minion” Billie Starks to name a few since December 2022, the “forever champion” has now hit 800 days with the title as of February 16.

At 26 successful title defences, Athena seems to not be slowing down either, most recently defeating Thekla whilst in Japan for STARDOM’s New Years Stars 2025 show at Korakuen Hall.

Athena’s next defence comes against Alex Windsor at AEW/ROH Global Wars in Brisbane, Australia, which airs on February 17.

Prior to her record breaking ROH run Athena competed in WWE for six years, capturing the NXT Women’s Championship and NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles.
