An AEW star has officially joined a faction after their championship victory to close out last week’s episode of Dynamite.
The main event of last week’s AEW Dynamite Spring BreakThru show saw a title change take place, when the Death Riders lost their AEW World Trios Championship to the Opps.
The match was originally slated to feature Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata and HOOK, but HOOK was not medically cleared for the match following an injury during the prior week’s main event.
Instead, Powerhouse Hobbs filled in for him, with he, Joe and Shibata becoming the new Trios Champions after Samoa Joe choked out AEW World Champion Jon Moxley.
The trio were named individually after winning the titles, leading to some speculation about whether Hobbs was officially recognised as a member of the Opps, but we got our answer on tonight’s Dynamite show.
To kick off the show, Hip Hop legend Master P came to the ring, where he introduced the three men as the Opps, with the graphic also simply referring to the group as the Opps, implying that Hobbs is now an official member of the group.
