An AEW star and former champion is reportedly set to leave the company next week and could soon be heading to WWE.
There’s been plenty of news about the Lucha Bros in recent months, and a major development is imminent.
As reported by Fightful Select, the word in AEW is that Penta El Zero Miedo’s contract is due to expire next week.
Unless anything drastic changes, he is expected to leave the company will thus become a free agent.
The report notes that Penta is “expected to have interest from WWE”, although there are also indie promotions hoping to book him as well if he’s available.
Penta’s brother and tag team partner Rey Fenix will seemingly not be leaving at the same time, as Fenix has had more injury time tacked onto his deal.
Previous reports have indicated that tacked-on time will end up being about a year.
Penta and Fenix are former AEW World Tag Team Champions together, as well as AEW World Trios Champions with Pac as the trio known as Death Triangle.
Pac is now a two-time AEW World Trios Champion, currently holding the title with fellow members of Jon Moxley’s Death Riders, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta.
We’ll keep you posted with any further updates on Penta and Fenix leaving AEW and the possibility of them joining WWE.
