AEW Star Loses Championship

AEW Star Loses Championship AEW/NJPW

An AEW star lost the IWGP NEVER Openweight Championship at today’s NJPW Dominion event.

On Sunday, June 15 NJPW held their annual Dominion pay-per-view event – with several championship matches taking place.

Among them was a NEVER Openweight Title clash between reigning champion Konosuke Takeshita and Oleg Boltin, who was seeking to win his first-ever piece of singles gold in the company.

In the end it was Boltin who did just that, dethroning Takeshita and bringing an end to his run as champion after 162 days.

As announced at NJPW Dominion, both Takeshita and Boltin will take part in this year’s G1 Climax 35 tournament, which begins on Saturday, July 19 and ends on Sunday, August 17.

As a result of Takeshita’s participation he will be taking a leave from AEW television between these dates.
