AEW Star Wants ‘One More Run’ As A Wrestler AEW

Former WWE star Maria Kanellis has not competed in a wrestling match in over four years.

Her last match took place in 2019, when she was a part of the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal at WrestleMania 35 that was won by Carmella.

Since then, Maria has served as the manager to husband Mike Bennett and Matt Taven as a part of the Kingdom in IMPACT, ROH and most recently AEW.

Maria appeared on the most recent episode of AEW Unrestricted, where she discussed a potential return to in-ring action.

Maria noted that she is heavily considering one more run as a wrestler due to her kids wanting to see her wrestle.

She said:

“[My daughter] wants me to wrestle, so does my son. You get those pulls, they didn’t see that part of my life, but they want to and they’re interested. So, it’s almost like you have to kinda re-do it a little bit so they can see it. ‘

“I don’t know. I truly felt like I was done, my last match I had was at WrestleMania 35, it was after I had my daughter and right before I got pregnant with my son. When I walked out, I was like ‘I don’t think this is for me anymore. I don’t think the wrestling part is for me anymore.’

“But now because of the kids, I’m like ‘Shoot’, because they really wanna see me wrestle, especially my son. Maybe one, maybe one more run wrestling. We’ll see, if it comes up.”

While Maria’s last match took place at WrestleMania 35, she did appear in a mixed tag team match alongside her husband Mike Kanellis against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch on July 1, though she did not get physical due to being pregnant, which she announced on air during the match.
