AEW Star Opens Up About Scary Injury Spot

The Dark Order’s Alex Reynolds has claimed that a scary spot in which he was seemingly manhandled whilst unconscious was actually planned and he was not legitimately knocked unconscious.

In a fatal four-way tag team match on the October 21 episode of AEW Dynamite, Reynolds appeared to be knocked out after Private Party’s double-team move from the top rope. Reynolds remained motionless after being dragged to the corner by Blade, who tagged himself in.

The action continued around Reynolds, who remained unconscious in the corner, before eventually re-joining the match. Shortly after this incident, the member of The Dark Order praised AEW doctors for a doing a “fantastic job“, dealing with his injury.

Alex Reynolds recalled the incident on AEW Unrestricted, revealing that, while ‘rocked’, he was fully conscious when Blade dragged him to the corner, a spot that was planned prior to the match.  Here is the full quote, courtesy of Fightful:

“I was lying in the middle of the ring, waiting for Private Party to hit the splash/leg drop combo and I got kinda rocked. It is what it is, but what many people online don’t know — obviously, because they weren’t in the situation — I wasn’t knocked out. I was awake the whole time and remember everything. I knew where I was, knew where we were in the match. I did a self-check with myself. The big thing everyone was complaining about was me being dragged to the corner. That was all planned. What people aren’t understanding is that I just took a double team move off the top rope and Blade just dragged me to the corner so he could be legal and win the match. People were complaining, but I was just laying there and selling this move, but I was also rocked and making sure I was okay. I’ve been wrestling long enough to know I was pretty sure I could continue. John looked at me like, ‘Are you okay?’ ‘Yeah, I’m okay.’ Once I was on the ground, I was like, ‘Okay, I can do this.’ Once I stood up, I was like, ‘Oh no. I can’t.’ It’s chaotic. The worst part of it was the feedback on social media. Once the doctors and everyone knew I was hurt, I was done. People sit back and watch it with the knowledge that I was already hurt. So they’re like, ‘They handled it wrong.’ No, they handled it perfectly. I’m okay, cleared, and ready to go,”

The AEW medical team have experienced a lot of criticism from fans recently, most notably after Matt Hardy’s injury at All Out. Reynolds shedding light on what actually happened that night demonstrates how fans can only see so much through their TV screens.

Reynolds made his in-ring return at the end of November on AEW Dark and has competed in multiple matches since returning.
