AEW has taken to social media to announce that Austin Gunn will be out of action for 8-10 weeks following last night’s loss to Anthony Ogogo.
It’s unclear whether Gunn is legitimately injured or this is just being done to sell how dangerous Ogogo is before his match with Cody Rhodes at AEW Double Or Nothing on May 30.
Before yesterday, Gunn’s last Dynamite match was way back on November 4, so it’s not like he’s been a featured guy and that long of an absence won’t exactly come out of nowhere.
The win put Ogogo at 2-0 having previously beaten Cole Karter in easy fashion on Dynamite a number of weeks ago.
The big spot in the Gunn/Ogogo match was Gunn coughing up blood after gut punches from Ogogo, which have become Ogogo’s MO.
AEW isn’t short of injuries right now with Chris Jericho, Ricky Starks, John Silver, Kip Sabian, Darius Martin, Anna Jay and others all currently on the shelf.

If Gunn is legitimately injured, we of course send him our best and wish him a safe recovery.
