AEW Star Promises To Retire If He Doesn’t Win Dynamite Match

This week on Dynamite, Kip Sabian defeated Chuck Taylor of Best Friends in singles competition. This was allowed Sabian to gain some momentum ahead of his TNT Championship tournament quarter-final match next week.

Sabian drew Dustin Rhodes in the tournament’s first round, and the duo will go one-on-one on next week’s episode of Dynamite. As if a place in the semi-finals weren’t enough, even more stakes have been added to the bout.

In a tease for the next AEW Road To episode, Dustin said the following to his brother Cody, promising he will retire if he cannot beat Kip on Wednesday night:

“If I cannot beat that son of a b***h, I will retire”.

Kip has taken to Twitter to comment on the new stipulation, saying that Rhodes should “enjoy the last few days of being a pro wrestler”.

For me, while I’m all about matches having stakes, the added stipulation does sort of telegraph the match result. I will be shocked if Dustin Rhodes ends his career in this manner, so it sort of gives away that he is winning here.

Also, I wish things like this would take place on TV. Filming a short segment like this wouldn’t take long and would be far better suited taking place and being broadcast on Dynamite as opposed to a YouTube show that has
