An AEW star has been pulled from an announced championship match following an injury scare on last week’s Dynamite show.
The main event of last week’s AEW Dynamite show saw Samoa Joe and HOOK of the Opps take on Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta of the Death Riders.
HOOK managed to pick up the win for his team, submitting Wheeler Yuta, but after the match many fans were concerned about HOOK, due to him vomiting in the ring, leading to fans believing he had suffered a concussion.
However, it was reported by Dave Meltzer following the show that HOOK had not been concussed, with it being announced that he would team with Samoa Joe and Katsuyori Shibata against the Death Riders for the AEW Trios Championship on tonight’s show.
The match already saw an injury change the line up, with Jon Moxley now recognised as the interim Trios Champion due to an injury to PAC, and another change has now been made.
To kick off tonight’s show, Excalibur announced that HOOK had been attacked by the Death Riders, with him being in hospital of observation and removed from the Trios Championship match.
However, Joe and Shibata will go it alone against Moxley, Castagnoli and Yuta in the match.
