An AEW star was referenced on the WWE Survivor Series 2024 Countdown show during a look back at the event’s historic moments.
On the kickoff show ahead of WWE Survivor Series ‘WarGames’, host Michael Cole and panelists Wade Barrett and Big E were naming their favorite moments from the history of Survivor Series.
Cole named his top moment as the debut of The Shield in 2012, and praised where its members are in their careers now. He said:
Cole said:
“For me, my favorite Survivor Series moment was 2012, and that was the night that Ambrose and Rollins and Reigns appeared as The Shield coming in as mercenaries for CM Punk. And that was a night that really changed the landscape of all of WWE, and you see where they are in their careers now.”
Dean Ambrose is of course now the AEW World Champion as Jon Moxley, with WWE having removed him from some Shield references in the past.
Elsewhere on the broadcast, there was also footage of other notable AEW name Chris Jericho shown as his ‘Team WWE’ would end up victorious over The Alliance at Survivor Series 2001.
