A top AEW star has claimed that they are ‘retiring’ from professional wrestling amid their ongoing absence from television.
The AEW Women’s World Championship reign of Toni Storm came to an end back at AEW All In at Wembley Stadium, where she was defeated by her former protegee Mariah May.
Following the loss, Toni Storm exited stage left, and has not appeared on AEW television since, only competing in matches in STARDOM and CMLL, where she lost to Mayu Iwatani and La Catalina, respectively.
Mariah May and Mina Shirakawa are set to host a ‘champagne celebration’ at Full Gear this weekend, which many believed would lead to Toni making her return, but per the woman herself, that may not be the case.
Speaking to SBNation, the former AEW Women’s World Champion claimed that she would be leaving AEW and wrestling following her recent losses.
She said:
“I’m not used to being a loser. I’ve failed at everything. I lost in AEW, I lost in Japan, I lost in Mexico. This is the last you’ll hear from me again. Enjoy Mariah May as your champion. You can all enjoy that.
“AEW is just fine without me. Everything is going well for AEW. They don’t need Toni Storm. Chin down. Tits in. Don’t bother watching for the shoe.”
