AEW Star Returns From Lengthy Absence On Collision

AEW Star Returns From Lengthy Absence On Collision AEW

An AEW star made his return to the company’s programming for the first time in well over a year on tonight’s AEW Collision (June 21).

After Kazuchika Okada’s vicious attack on Kenny Omega during Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, tonight’s AEW Collision saw Don Callis and The Rainmaker revel in their handy work with an in-ring promo segment.

Questioning whether Omega would be able to face off with Okada in their ‘Winner Take All’ AEW Unified Championship match at All In Texas, Callis made the proclamation that Omega had no friends left by his side after destroying his relationships with The Young Bucks and Callis himself.

Immediately objecting to Callis’ statement was former ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe, who stated that he was Kenny’s friend, but he wasn’t his “only friend”.

This led to the return of none other than Omega’s Golden Lovers teammate Kota Ibushi, who has been absent from AEW completion since all the way back in November 2023.

Ibushi and Briscoe then stormed the ring, with the former taking out Lance Archer and latter clearing Josh Alexander from the ring.

A stare down between Okada and Ibushi then quickly saw both men come to blows, an exchange which Ibushi got the better of.

Following his appearance AEW announced that Ibushi will make his in-ring return on Wednesday’s Dynamite in Kent, WA (June 25) – it’s not yet known who is opponent will be.

Ibushi’s return comes 19 months since his last match on AEW programming – that being the Like A Dragon eight man Street Fight on November 15, 2023, which also happened to see Ibushi and Omega stand across from The Don Callis Family.

Ibushi missed much of 2024 due to injury and has competed exclusively in Japan since his last AEW appearance.
