AEW Star Recalls Being ‘Rubbed The Wrong Way’ During WWE Talks WWE/AEW

A current AEW star has recalled recent talks they had with WWE, and how they felt ‘rubbed the wrong way’ following them.

Last year, AEW’s QT Marshall announced that he would be leaving the company at the end of the year, with him becoming a free agent on January 1, 2024.

However, following his departure, QT would end up returning to AEW in a backstage role, where he currently serves as a backstage producer.

Given Marshall’s connection to WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, and him helping run the Nightmare Factory, many speculated about Marshall potentially joining WWE, which didn’t end up happening.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated, QT discussed a conversation that he had with WWE during his free agency, where he said he was ‘rubbed the wrong way’ during the conversation.

He said:

“I had one conversation with somebody that doesn’t even work there anymore. I just got rubbed the wrong way during the conversation. It was like, ‘Hey, yeah, oh yeah, that’s great. All right.’ And I told him, like, yeah, all right, we’ll stay in touch’. To me, it was like ‘I’m not staying in touch’.

“I had all that time between November and January, so that on January 1 when that conversation did arise or January 2, whenever it was.

“It was like I kind of knew, plus I had already spoken to Tony before that, so I kind of knew. I think I was just looking for a reason to say no.”

Cody Rhodees and QT Marshall’s Nightmare Factory was recently announced as one of the many independent schools as part of the new WWE ID program.

QT is set to face off against Tik Tok star Big BOOM! AJ of the Costco Guys on the AEW Full Gear Zero Hour show.
