UPDATE: Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has confirmed that Penelope Ford was legitimately injured during the match, which led to the finish being changed
An AEW star suffered an injury during a championship match on tonight’s Dynamite show, seemingly leading to a changed finish.
On tonight’s AEW Dynamite show, a rematch was set to take place for the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship, with Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron set to defend the titles against Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford, with Lena Kross by their side.
However, the match was seemingly cut short after Lena Kross would get involved, hitting Willow with one of the titles to cause the disqualification.
During the match, Penelope Ford seemingly suffered an injury to her foot, which led to her being taken out of the rest of the match, as well as her not being present after the match as Bayne and Kross posed with the titles.
Per fans in the arena, Ford was told to stay down after suffering the injury, and was snuck to the back by doctors as the run in with Kross happened.
The nature of Ford’s injury has not yet been confirmed, and we will provide any updates as they become available.
We wish Penelope all the best following her injury.
