An AEW star has teased a future heel turn amid speculation linking him to joining MVP’s Hurt Syndicate faction.
Since debuting for AEW at All In London, former WWE star Ricochet has been featured prominently on TV and has mostly been on the winning side of his 15 matches in the company thus far.
However, when it comes to the big title matches Ricochet has fallen short, failing to capture the AEW International Championship on three separate occasions.
While Ricochet did manage his first win in this year’s AEW Continental Classic agains Komander on Rampage, he has recognised that he may need to change his approach going forward.
Appearing on Barstool’s Rasslin’ podcast, Ricochet revealed that he has been considering using underhanded tactics in his matches:
“Uh, you know, obviously yes. You do [think about doing those things].
“In the moment, the goodness comes out and you’re like, ‘I can’t do it, I just can’t do it.’ But definitely you have those thoughts, you have those dark thoughts all the time because it’s like, man, why do I always gotta be the one to take the high road, why do I always gotta be the one to not push the boundaries a little bit.
“The older you get, the less that [comes up] and the more you kind of do start thinking, maybe I need to do what I need to do to get to where I want to get to just like everybody else has been doing. They don’t mind it. So maybe, it does start to creep in there, maybe I do need to start.”
While he didn’t mention The Hurt Syndicate, the group has attempted to recruit the former WWE Intercontinental Champion since they debuted in AEW, however, thus far Ricochet has turned down their advances.
