Following news of his possible retirement, a new report has revealed that AEW star Chuck Taylor is transitioning into a backstage role.

On the April 27 edition of AEW Rampage, Trent Beretta defeated Chuck Taylor in a Parking Lot Fight. Following the win, Beretta smashed Taylor’s ankle with a pipe in front of Orange Cassidy and Kris Statlander.

The following week on AEW Dynamite, Cassidy announced that Taylor will not be able to wrestle after Trent’s attack.

As previously reported, Fightful Select reported that Chuck Taylor took the match knowing of the extent of his injury and knew it could be his last match.

Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update, noting that Chuck Taylor has been training as a coach and producer for months in AEW.

Taylor has been out of action since October 2023 recovering from injuries. It remains to be seen if he could make a possible return to the ring in the future.

Taylor’s former tag team partners in Best Friends, Orange Cassidy and Trent Beretta have been embroiled in a feud on AEW television.

WrestleTalk will provide any further updates on Chuck Taylor’s AEW status when they become available.
