An AEW name has paid tribute to AJ Styles following the WWE star’s final match at the Royal Rumble on January 31.
At the Royal Rumble in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, AJ Styles lost to GUNTHER, with the stipulation of retirement coming into effect.
In a post on social media, AEW Head of Talent Relations Christopher Daniels, himself a retired wrestler, has shared his thoughts on the career of AJ Styles.
Daniels would declare that Styles “was and is always elite” in a post on Twitter, reading:
“I’ve been quiet following @AJStylesOrg last match because I don’t think I can condense 25 years of emotions & experiences into 1 or 2 tweets.
“Nothing I type can fully express my love, respect, and appreciation for him. Regardless of what happens, AJ was and is always elite! ❤️”
The paths of AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels have crossed many times over the years, with matches in the NWA, ROH and TNA Wrestling, with the pair also being former NWA World Tag Team Champions.
Although retired from his in-ring career, AJ Styles has recently commented on the possibility of making a return in the future.
