AEW Star Currently Working Without A Contract AEW

The contract status of AEW star Brian Cage has been up in the air in recent weeks, with his contract expiring at the end of March after he signed an extension to see him through the Supercard of Honor pay-per-view.

Cage and his Embassy partners Kaun and Toa Liona defended the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship against Metalik, Blake Christian and AR Fox at Supercard of Honor.

The Embassy surprisingly kept a hold of the titles, which seemed to imply that Cage and AEW had reached an agreement for an extension, but that may not be the case.

Per Fightful Select (subscription required), Cage’s agreement to work with AEW/ROH expired at midnight Saturday morning following the Supercard of Honor pay-per-view.

AEW not only has a long-term contract offer to Cage, but Fightful was also told that there were attempts at a short-term extension in order to discuss a longer-term contract.

Fightful notes that productive conversations have occurred between the two sides, and there are currently conversations ongoing between them.

There have reportedly been attempts from ROH/AEW to extend Cage’s deal due to injury time, as he was sidelined when he first signed with the company, but Cage pushed back on that.

There were reportedly ‘powerful’ names in AEW that pushed for him to re-sign, and also ‘powerful’ members of the WWE roster who were hoping he would end up there.
