AEW Star’s Mom Told Him To Reject WWE Deal

AEW Star’s Mom Told Him To Reject WWE Deal

Speaking on the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Eddie Kingston has revealed that it was his mother who told him to reject a contract offer from WWE in favour of joining AEW earlier this year.

The former NWA star opened up to Aubrey Edwards and Tony Schiavone about how it was his Mom who convinced him to accept AEW’s deal and reject WWE:

“My mom. My mom told me. I’m a mama’s boy in the sense that what she says goes. Her opinion holds a lot of weight with me to the point where I’ve been with girls I thought I was in love with and my mother will be like, ‘I don’t think she is good’ and I would break up with them. It’s just the way it is.

“My mother knows me better than anybody. I was contacted by WWE and it was humbling. It was nice that they contacted me. I was trying to think where I should go.

“My mom said, look, ‘you won’t be happy in WWE. I know you and you won’t be happy. You will probably get fired three weeks in.’ I was like, ‘well, then I’m going to AEW’ and she said ‘good.’  She was the deciding factor.  There were a lot of things going for AEW, but she was the deciding factor.”

Just before All Out, Eddie Kingston revealed that WWE made him an offer to sign with them following his TNT Championship match with Cody. However, Kingston opted to join AEW on a full-time basis.
