The era of the sports entertainment in All Elite Wrestling is here, according to Chris Jericho.
Debuting his new stable, Jericho Appreciation Society, comprised of himself, Jake Hager, Daniel Garcia and 2point0 made their way to the ring for the pre-announced ‘commencement ceremony’ during the St. Patrick’s Day Slam edition of AEW Dynamite.
During the promo, Jericho emphatically stated that 2point0 was a name fans would never hear again as the duo would be going by new names – ‘Big Magic’ Matt Lee is now ‘Daddy Magic’ Matt Minard, and Jeff Parker is now ‘Cool Hand Ange’ Angelo Parker (spellings to be confirmed).
It could be speculated that this is because AEW doesn’t want to have two Matt and Jeff pairings following the reunion of the Hardys.
Jericho explained why the faction members would be there for him, expressing why they were grateful but in true masterclass Jericho storytelling, dually explaining why they may feel indebted to him, Jericho described having donated money to Daniel Garcia’s recovery after a horrible car accident without ever having met him.
Then in a surprising reference to WWE, Jericho said he got a call from “his former best friend Kevin,” asking him to put these two guys who had just been fired on his podcast, hoping he could help them get another job, seemingly referencing Kevin Owens reaching out on behalf of the released Ever-Rise as they were known at the time.
Jericho went on to use his new catch-phrase, ending the promo with “that’s entertainment.”
