AEW Streaming Plans Potential Update

AEW Streaming Plans Potential Update AEW

With AEW currently streaming on HBO Max in the US, a potential update has emerged on future plans for the brand.

AEW has filed to trademark a new term which appears to be for use in streaming and distribution.

The listing was filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on November 14 under US Serial Number 99497132.

Covering the term “WATCH AEW”, the Goods and Services description for the listing reveals:

“Entertainment services in the nature of live professional wrestling performances; Entertainment services in the nature of production of professional wrestling television programs;

Entertainment services, namely, production and distribution of ongoing television programs in the field of professional wrestling; Providing television programs, not downloadable, via streaming transmission services;

Providing non-downloadable videos in the field of professional wrestling via streaming transmission services”

While it remains to be seen if or how AEW would use this specific trademark, the description certainly lends itself to a video-on-demand platform.

It isn’t, however, unusual for entities to file applications with the USPTO to protect a specific element without putting it into formal use.

With AEW Full Gear taking place on November 22, the official listing for the upcoming pay-per-view reveals it can be ordered via HBO Max in the United States, with Prime Video, Triller TV and YouTube being among the many other platforms serving the event internationally.

Tony Khan has previously addressed the current deal between AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery, which also sees programming air on TBS.
