An AEW star has commented after picking up an upset victory in her first match on Japanese soil.
Anna Jay was recently announced to representing AEW in STARDOM’s 5 Star Grand Prix Tournament, competing in her first match on August 10 against Saori Anou.
To the surprise of many it was Jay who picked up the win over her more experienced opponent, reversing a backside attempt into a pin of her own for the three count.
Following the victory Jay has now taken to Twitter to comment on her first taste of Japanese competition, calling it an “honor” to compete against Anou and thanking both AEW and STARDOM for the opportunity.
Jay wrote:
My first match in Japan.
Saori Anou, what an honor. Thank you.
Let’s keep going. @we_are_stardom @AEW
After her win over Anou, Jay will now have to prepare for matches against the other competitors in the Blue Star A-Block of the tournament, which consists of Syuri, Starlight Kid, Xena, Koguma and Miyu Amasaki.
WrestleTalk will post further updates on Jay’s progress in the 5 Star Grand Prix as they become available.
