AEW
In a surprising message, AEW has tweeted birthday wishes for Buddy Matthews.
It is indeed Matthews’ birthday, so nothing odd about that.
What is a bit strange about it all is that this tweet comes after Buddy Matthews’ recent address to the crowd at a Fight Life Pro Wrestling Show.
Echoing his fellow House of Black member Malakai Black, Matthews insinuated he would be stepping back from AEW, saying:
“Unfortunately, I, like some of the other members, need to go away for a while. I need to recalibrate. I need to figure out some things. As my brother Malakai once said, this isn’t goodbye, this is see you later.”

Of course, it can’t be helped that the wrestler’s birthday happens to follow this announcement.
Receiving birthday wishes from a company which you have allegedly stepped away from, is, however, interesting.
Maybe AEW is trying to keep positive lines of communication open, but going by this tweet, it seems the situation is that while Matthews is taking time away, he’ll remain under contract with AEW rather than leaving the company completely – at least for now.
Remaining House of Black member Brody King indicated earlier today (September 26) that he is staying with AEW.
The future of the faction, with remaining members King and Julia Hart, is yet to be seen.
