AEW star Swerve Strickland has opened up about how he and Tony Khan handle any frustrations they’ve encountered.
Strickland has been signed with AEW since March 2022, committing to a new contract in August 2024.
With Strickland recently confirming that his current AEW deal will take him through to 2029, he has also addressed how he handles frustrations.
Speaking to Bootleg Kev, the former AEW World Heavyweight Champion would reveal that there’s nowhere he’d rather be than in Tony Khan’s company, saying:
“There’s nowhere else I would rather be. A lot of people say, ‘Oh, that’s just a PR. He’s supposed to say that sh*t.’ Nah, I mean that sh*t from the bottom of my heart. There’s no other place I’d rather be.”
While Strickland has clearly found a home in AEW, it isn’t without frustrations, with the star going on to reveal how he handles them compared to past promotions, stating:
“Do I have bad days as opposed to good days? Of course. This is a job. I have frustrations here and there.
“But, I work through those frustrations better here than I did in other places and anywhere else in the world whether it be Lucha Underground, WWE, NXT.
“Tony Khan and me have always worked through frustrations.”
Strickland’s earlier AEW deal was set to expire in March 2025, with negotiations to re-sign him taking place during his championship reign.
It was noted that the negotiations began as he had “outperformed” the deal he had originally signed.
