On AEW’s Road to TNT YouTube Series, the AEW Tag Team Championship Tournament bracket was revealed. This tournament will begin on October 2, 2019 and the finals are set for the October 30 Charleston Show.
One side of the bracket features The Young Bucks vs. Private Party and The Lucha Bros vs. Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy.
The other side of the bracket features SCU vs. Best Friends and The Dark Order who have a first round bye.
Having the Lucha Bros and The Young Bucks almost seems like a lock to get a rematch of these two great tag teams on a TV episode of AEW on TNT. However, there is one team noticeable by their absence.
LAX is not in the tournament. It’s possible they follow up on their attack of the Lucha Brothers at All Out and cost the Lucha Bros a match at some point in the tournament.
Tony Khan and The Young Bucks have promised to put an emphasis on tag team wrestling. This tournament and its booking will tell us a ton about AEW’s vision for tag team wrestling on their weekly television series.
It will be interesting to see who AEW turns to for their first champions. Given the fact they turned to Chris Jericho as their World Champion, will they turn to the most famous competitors in this tournament, The Young Bucks?
It seems thus far, the executive vice presidents have been willing to share the spotlight, but is that best for business?
